Coming back to Guild Wars
Its been a long time. But Im thinking of coming back to Guild Wars. I installed Prophecies last night, and only played for like 5 minutes before I went to bed (I got to bed early, work early). Anyways.
Questions: I already have a lvl 20 rpg Monk and Warrior (I played PVP with these all the time though) still saved on the server. Are these viable anymore? What I mean is, Ive been looking at builds online and there are skills I dont remember the Monk ever having. Do I need to get the other chapters to get those skills? Do I need to pay gold to unlock them? Do I need to buy the skills in the Online Store? Basically, can I still do good at PVP or GVG with skills still from Prophecy. Or will I need to spend some money? |

Gonna have to spend some money. If you don't want to buy the campaigns you can just buy the skills from them from online store.

In order to have any viable build, you will have to buy at least one of the other campaigns (that means Nightfall or Factions, NOT EOTN). You can still do Prophecies without it, I mean I did it before the other campaigns existed, but it will be much harder.

Nightfall I guess it is this. Sooner or later. I have an aversion to spending money.
Right now Im just playing through Prophecies story for some fun and to remind me how to play. So I guess I have a while to decide. |

if u want to pvp only...i'd suggest gettin teh pvp edition of gw
if u like both pve n pvp, then u'd need to buy teh other campaigns to get teh skills (factions, nitefall, eotn) for general random arenas, no u dun need teh other campaigns to get glad pts ta, ha, gvg, u will most likely unless u have pvp friends, and they r understanding (or u pug wit casual players of nubs) buyin factions will allow u to ab (alliance battle) buyin nitefall and/or eotn will allow u to hvh (hero vs hero) imo, both modes arent really pvp at all and for me not that fun if u r gonna buy teh campaigns i recommend not buyin from teh online store as it will be more expensive (plus u dun get purrty box art ^___^) u can prolly find it in-store for at least $10-30 cheaper hope this helped edit: oh and for builds (if u stick wit proph only) war: eviscirate - shock monk: word of healing - any tactics stance or glyph of lesse energy Last edited by snaek; Apr 01, 2008 at 05:16 PM // 17:16.. |

If you are sure you going to spend much time in Guild Wars I'd just buy the other campaigns. |

I just wanted a MMO to play that didnt cost a monthly fee. Im waiting for GW2 to come out, and need something to pass the time on the weekends (thats right weekends, only really play then). So its not a big deal. But the dervish looks ultimately cool.
